17th pose.
Savasana. (The Corpse Posture)
Sava = Corpse
Asana = Posture
Sit in dandasana.
Exhale and lie down on your back.
Dig the shoulder blades in and open the
chest.
This will open the chest at the
sternum.
Place the hands palms up on the floor
and about 12” away from your hips.
Keep the feet about 6” to 8” away from
each other.
Allow the toes of both feet to fall
outwards.
This will open the groin area.
Take the chin towards the chest.
This will stretch the midbrain and help
to open the forehead.
This is one of the greatest poses in
yoga. It helps to release the physical body and open the mind. The
subtle body of mind breath and intelligence surfaces very powerfully in
this pose. It is also very helpful for guided meditations, creative
visualizations, progressive relaxation, autosuggestion and
self-hypnosis.
